Well the Tontra origins thread has been dead since late october hasn't it? No one's posted for a long time so I just supposed everyone gave up on it or something. I really hope activity picks up during christmas break.Mad Mike wrote:Pandora's Box wrote:I'm back...

Other than that, things have been very quiet most of the time, good to have you back!

personally I prefer the Irish Rovers version, but I can see the appeal of that one too.CWO4anthony321123 wrote:I'm gonna say this right here and now. If you don't like Irish music I don't know how you can call yourself a human being.

It's still the 24th in the states, so, nothing to report.Mad Mike wrote:Merry Christmas BVG! My present to you is this christmas cheesecake, enjoy!
Today I had traditional Swedish christmas dinner at a local church, but tomorrow I'll have tradiotional middle eastern christmas dinner which is much more delicious! We celebrate christmas day so that's when we open the presents aswell (I'm hoping for a new audio interface so I can start my piano channel on youtube)
How was your christmas, get anything good?

P.S. Middle Eastern Christmas? How/why?

That's pretty cool. I'm still trying to figure out why a Swede is celebrating Middle Eastern traditions.Mad Mike wrote:CWO4anthony321123 wrote:

You do know Christianity started in the middle east right? And that not everyone there are muslims or arabs (both of those invaded from Arabia in the 600s, before then everyone were christians). I might have mentioned this a few times but the Syriac orthodox church has the oldest liturgy of any church in history were we use a 1300 old version of aramaic (Jesu's language). The aramaic we speak at home is much more modernized though.
But I'm glad you asked! They actually used to have big christmas parades in Syria before the war, and Libanon also has huge parades and decoratations (being a christian country formally). And by the way, ginger bread and rice porage are middle eastern foods
We mostly have very diffrent food for christmas though:
Tabuleh: (this is my favorite dish ever)
Dolma/Yaprek: (may look bad at first glance, but it's REALLY delicious)
Kutle: (traditional Syriac dish, is filled with meat and served with a sort of yoghurt)
There's many more dishes, but those are my favorites, and my family always mixes it with traditional swedish christmas dinner like meatballs, sausage, ham and all that. I ate all of this 2 hours ago btw, and my stomach still feels like it's about to explode

No, no. But, this is a surprise.Mad Mike wrote:CWO4anthony321123 wrote:

Well... I'm not technically a Swede... I'm Syriac (DRAMATIC PAUSE). I've mentioned this one or two times, but you must of missed it
I was born in Sweden but my parents were not, therefore I don't look Swedish at all and I usually speak Syriac/aramaic with my family and relatives. And I don't celebrate most of the more Swedish holidays (between you and me, I think Midsummer is really dumb.)
Perhaps you always thought I was some blonde viking lol?
