Is the game 50% done? 60%? Or even 20%? I'd like to know

Generally, an MMO takes about 4–5 years to finish developing. Even then after the game's completion, it has its "vanilla" stage which basically means that it has the basic features, content and mechanics to thrive on.

Depending if the "vanilla" stage can provide a long period of time for playability, the "vanilla" stage will either see a stable player-base with no significant player losses or gains, a significant increase of the player-base if the hype lives through post-development, or a significant decrease of the player-base due to varied reasons (usually negative) because of a "poor" vanilla-stage or from a different outcome after the game's initial hype.

If the player-base continues to drastically decrease post-release, then you'll usually see an MMO stuck in "maintenance mode". Maintenance mode is a period of time in which an MMO is usually being criticized, hated on, filled with disappointments while the development teams try to fix bugs, create more content and add new features for the player-base to enjoy and to hopefully regain losses from their maintenance mode period.

I'm kinda an MMO expert.

Yeah, but a lot of people confuse it with a regular mmo (actually an mmorpg) just because it has mmo in it. Just call it huge halo multiplayer.
