At Elai's command to go through, Connolly barks orders so the wounded get through first, including their prisoner. As the squad and the Elites make their way through, Connolly sends an encrypted data burst to command. The data burst includes Elai's intel on how the Horizon CEO was going to sell tech to the Covenant, as well as info on the teleporter.

We turn around from coming through the teleporter and there it is...

The Halo ring. "I told you..."

Connolly looks at Anto for a few moments before sighing and telling his squad to stand down, but be wary.

A few of the Horizon troops make it through and Connolly's men open fire.

"You're nuke wouldn't take this thing out, Connolly. I'm gonna land on it... Look, over there! The Covenant have already landed on the ring."

I turn to Anto, "Did you know about this?"

Connolly looks out the window at the ships, and then an Anto, going back and forth several times before shaking his head and saying, "I'm not even going to try and understand all the things you lot have going on in your species these days."

Guards make it through the teleporter and begin to push the ODSTs and the Elites back through sheer numbers and firepower. A number of the guards have standard issue equipment and some of them have power suits and .50 cals.

The squad lead by Omega-1, including Psi-12, start to mount up into ships. The Psi Class get into their F-77 Lancers while the Omega class and a detachment of alphas file into three modified Pelicans.
Then the ships are launched into a teleporter and reappear on the Halo Ring.

The Owner of the Horizon Company shakes his head within his office. (Not the CEO)
"This has turned into one hell of a mess... All because that damned fool of a CEO decided to do some black market deals... Now we have to clean up his damned mess..."

(Horizon was originally created by owners/investors to use Forerunner technology to help humanity, and make some money, but the CEO did things without their knowledge)

The Marines and Elites fall back carefully, being careful not to take anymore casualties, but while still protecting the ones they already have.
"Mike! What the the heck are you doing! Shut down that bloody teleporter already!"
The aircraft begin coming through, and Connolly becomes even more frustrated.
"Mike!"

The F-77 Lancers make one strafing pass at the Elites, not specifically targeting the humans, before they escort the Pelicans to a different section of the ring. The aircraft ready flares in case of AA fire. The Horizon guards and soldiers that are coming from the teleporter begin to break off from the firefight and retreat towards a structure on the ring. It appears that they are only suppressing the humans while actually targeting the Elites

A tenth of the horizon forces are eliminated immediately by the covenant attack, bu the teleporter is destroyed, along with their way back home. But the remaining Horizon forces made their way to safety within a forerunner structure that leads underground.

The F-77 Lancers and the pelicans look back at the sight of the covenant fleet appearing and decimating the teleporter. David speaks suggests,
"Sir, we need to get clear of those ships. We don't have enough firepower to take on cruisers and corvettes."
"I know that you idiot, everyone get to that spire that is 120km away."

The scanners pick up the seraph fighters that are en route.
"Hey, you damn psi class, break off and cover us. Destroy enything in the sky!"
David responds to his superior officer,

The F-77 Lancers break off from the airborne convoy and move to engage the interceptors. The Seraphs are vastly outgunned by the prototype "Lancer" fighters. The mix of Forerunner and Human technology within these fighters make them far superior to anything yet produced. Their maneuverability alone makes it impossible for them to get hit by anything but the most elite of pilots. But the main drawback is the strain on the pilots' body as the G-forces take their toll on the body.

Just to make it clear: we are not on the ring atm, if you said they're going to a structure on the ring then we'll take it that you meant they are going to fly to the ring.

I nod at Connolly and run to the pelican. I jump into the cockpit. "Mike start this thing up; let's go." The engines start up and we take off.

I talk to Connolly on the private comm chat: "Im gonna need you to come pick me up once we've destroyed this thing. Find a way back to Tontra, or you can grab a Pelican and fly to this ring.I'll try and take out as many storm Covenant as possible. Mike will override the ring, we'll activate the self destruct sequence, I could do with a way off when it blows."

Then, out of the blue, a giant flying octopus latches on to Legal's face, ultimately crushing and killing him.

I, mini, that random soldier in the background, simply laughs and continues doing what little I can to ruin the story.
